Fair Australia launches a pre election campaign

Due to the uncertainty around the future of the NDIS, and issues facing people with a disability, their families, and carers, Fair Australia (FA) was launched by national disability peak the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations and the Australian Autism Alliance to campaign for important reform ahead of the federal election.

The campaign will be enlisting support from disability organisations, individuals, and allies in order to put disability on the political agenda. FA will be running a strong traditional, digital, social media, and ground campaign that we hope will penetrate deep into the Australian electorate, and will be focusing on some key seats to gain traction for our reform agenda.

That reform agenda is clear. We want a Minister for Disability as recommended by the Disability Royal Commission (DRC). We want a disability employment charter similar to the UK model to help people with disability to find gainful employment. And we want Disability Representative Organisations to receive a very modest $10mn in funding so they can continue to analyse govt policy, co-design policy and programs, and feed back the concerns of people with disability and their families to govt.

If this message resonates with you, please contact us and help campaign to put disability on the agenda this election. david@firsttiermedia.com

Update - Jan 2025

Interest in Fair Australia grows as campaign launches

Having just launched the Fair Australia campaign, we have seen a great deal of interest from the community from:

  • traditional media | we’ve talked to all major mastheads and broadcasters about the launch of IEA

  • disability orgs | we are in discussions with multiple disability representative bodies around providing support and talent for the campaign

  • allies | we are in discussions with dozens of for-purpose organisations that we believe will support our campaign aims

  • people with disability | have been mass emailed and we are getting strong responses of support via email and on socials around how they can help on the ground

  • social media | our social media has been launched on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram and we anticipate strong growth and support as our media and stakeholder outreach gathers speed

  • politicians | we have sent invites out to politicians in key seats to gauge their interest in participating in local forums and q&a’s focused on disability
